Twitch Affiliate Requirements: The Four Numbers You Need
Published: September 2, 2026 — Updated: September 7, 2026
Affiliate is Twitch's first monetization milestone, and its requirements are four concrete numbers tracked automatically on your dashboard. The bar was lowered substantially in June 2026, so much of the advice written before then overstates the climb. Here are the current requirements and what actually helps you meet them.
The current requirements
As of the June 2026 update, you qualify for Affiliate by meeting all of these within a rolling 30-day window, with two-factor authentication enabled on your account:
| Requirement | Threshold |
|---|---|
| Followers (lifetime total) | 25 |
| Hours streamed (past 30 days) | 4 |
| Different broadcast days (past 30 days) | 4 |
| Concurrent viewers on those days | 3 |
What changed in June 2026
The thresholds were cut roughly in half: previously 50 followers, 8 hours, and 7 broadcast days. At the same time, Twitch opened monetization features — subscriptions, Bits, emotes, Channel Points — to eligible streamers globally without requiring Affiliate status.
Affiliate still matters, though: actually receiving payouts runs through the Affiliate/Partner agreements. The practical reading is that the features unlocked early, while the money still arrives at the Affiliate milestone.
The viewer gate is the real one
For most new streamers, 25 followers and 4 hours arrive on their own. The gate that decides the timeline is 3 concurrent viewers on 4 different days — because brand-new channels get almost no discovery traffic, and 3 people watching simultaneously is harder than it sounds when nobody knows you exist.
The dependable route runs outside Twitch: friends and an existing community from wherever you already are — a Discord, a group chat, another platform. Three regulars who show up on a schedule clear the requirement in four streams. Waiting for strangers to wander in from the category page usually takes far longer.
What helps (and what doesn't)
- Stream on a schedule — the requirement is structured around distinct days, and so is habit formation for your first viewers.
- Tell people when you go live, every time, wherever your people already are.
- Pick a category where 3 viewers is visible rather than invisible; being on page one of a small category beats page forty of a giant one.
- Don't buy viewers or followers — botted numbers risk the channel and don't produce the sustained viewership everything after Affiliate depends on.
- Don't stream marathon hours to force the hours gate; it is the easiest of the four and long empty streams hurt your averages.
After you qualify
Progress is tracked on your dashboard's achievements page, and Twitch invites you once all four gates are green — you accept the agreement, set up payout details, and monetization begins. The invitation does not expire in any way that should rush you; read the terms properly.
It is worth knowing that Affiliate is a beginning, not a payday: at typical first-milestone audience sizes, sub and Bits income is small. The habits that got you here — schedule, regulars, watching your numbers — are the same ones that make the next thresholds reachable.
Frequently asked questions
What are the Twitch Affiliate requirements right now?
25 followers, plus — within a rolling 30-day window — 4 hours streamed, 4 different broadcast days, and 3 concurrent viewers reached on those days, with two-factor authentication enabled. These were lowered from 50/8/7 in June 2026.
Do the 3 viewers have to be simultaneous?
Yes — the metric is concurrent viewers, three people watching at the same moment, not three visitors across the stream.
Can I get monetization without Affiliate now?
Since mid-2026, features like subs, Bits, and emotes are available to eligible streamers without Affiliate status — but receiving payouts still requires joining the Affiliate or Partner program.
How long does reaching Affiliate take?
With a schedule and a few supporters who show up, the streaming gates can be cleared in under two weeks. Without any existing audience to invite, it commonly takes one to several months of consistent streaming.
